Heaven Tyndall, science teacher, was announced as the Athens Drive Teacher of the Year today, Nov. 8 2024. Each year, Athens Drive staff vote to select a worthy candidate for the award. Administrators and band students came together to surprise Tyndall with music, flowers, balloons, and a banner recognizing the award.
Along with advising Women’s Empowerment Club, Tyndall teaches several science classes. She is well known among staff and students for her kindness, enthusiasm, and patience.
“She’s really kind, I really like her class,” said Iliany Lopez, an ESL student.
Students in Tyndall’s third period ESL class were equally surprised at the announcement, many taking to their phones to record the celebration. Tyndall noted how special she felt from the surprise, and faculty feels that this was well deserved.
“I could list 100 reasons why Ms. Tyndall was a good teacher for this. She’s just so dedicated to her job and her students and she’s very deserving of it,” said Elizabeth Logsdon, administrator.
