The semi-formal Glass Slipper Ball is among students and the sophomore class council is planning on making this dance more memorable than those in the past. Unlike traditional dances, Sadie Hawkins dances require girls asking the boys to the dance instead.
Girls attending the dance are trying to find creative ways to ask boys to the dance. Like promposals, the sophomore class came up with the idea of “glassposals,” similar to the idea of promposals with the extravagant ideas on how to ask a person to a dance.
“Coming up with the glassposals idea will hopefully get more people interested in attending the dance,” said Sophomore Class President, Dana Shefet.
With the date of the ball being close to Valentine’s Day, sophomores, who are responsible for planning the dance, have altered the theme to give the old “Valentine’s Day Dance” a break. This years theme is “A Night Under the Stars,” with the theme’s colors, navy blue and gold. The dance will be Feb. 7 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m..
There will be a photo booth in the gym where students can have their picture taken professionally with their hot date. There will also be a wide variety of snacks, including a chocolate fondue station. There will be a new DJ this year to rock some jams. People who are bringing dates who attend a different school will need to fill a form out and turn it into Mary Katherine Baker in room 1616 as soon as soon as possible Baker in room 1616 as soon as possible.
Student government has also decided to make changes to the Glass Slipper Ball in upcoming years. Next year, the dance will be moved to the fall as a homecoming dance. They have made this change to switch things up and keep the idea of a school dance alive.
“We’re really looking forward to planning for next years homecoming, it’s going to be something you won’t want to miss,” said Shefet.
