All over America, many high school students wait for the spring season with excitement towards senior assassins, also known as water wars. Senior assassins is a student-organized game not affiliated with the school because, you know, no one wants to be affiliated with an army of teenagers with water guns. Students collectively get into groups and go against each other. To play, students must each put in a deposit of $10. Essentially, this is a Walmart version of The Hunger Games with an entry fee. To eliminate others, participants use water guns, hoses, and water balloons to eliminate opposing team members. The winning team of senior assassins is rewarded with all the money. This money may seem impressive until you realize students become addicted to this game and spend it all on more water guns to create a war outside of school.
Although this may seem like a fun game with huge rewards, people tend to ignore how dangerous senior assassins truly are. Not only does it have the word “war” in the name of the game; a huge red flag people ignore, but there are also so many dangerous, hidden secrets behind it like students jumping out moving cars, and treating life like Fortnite. But hey, everything is fair in war, right?
First, teenagers may become overly obsessed with the game and hyper-focus on it to unhealthy levels. Some families have a strong fear that teenagers are going to become permanent water warriors. On top of that, families are also worried their teens will never speak to them again as they hyper-focus on this game until the day they die. Legend has it some teams haven’t spoken to their families since Sunday, April 14, 2025, at midnight when the game began. Families have tried to reach out to their teens in an attempt to beg them to come back home, but they have deleted and muted every single app except Snapchat and Life360.
Water shortages have been a huge concern with senior assassins as well. Countries all over the world have complained about the water shortages in their countries ever since this game started. Teens have gotten so obsessed with this game that they have run out of water in their own homes and have also completely depleted all water supplies in stores, so they found a way to hack into Russia’s water systems. Families all over the world are terrified that this will get to a point where there will be complete water depletion, essentially fearing that this game will lead them to death.
If the world does not think that is enough to put an end to this treacherous game, they will when they hear this: “Multiple Athens Drive High School teenagers have admitted themselves into mental hospitals due to PTSD (Post Traumatic Splash Disorder).” How can the world let such a damaging game continue? Senior assassins have not only damaged family relationships and caused water shortages, but they have also caused mental illnesses in teenagers. Some families even report that their teenagers do not shower because the fear of water in any shape or form has gotten so big that even the idea of showers makes teens have panic attacks.
On top of the PTSplashD, players have also not been able to sleep at all, with a fear that they will be killed in their sleep. Even in their own home, players are still terrified they could get attacked or that someone could sneak into their homes and eliminate them in their sleep. Some students have even reported that every time they fall asleep, they hear fatal water gun sounds or someone sneaking up on them, leading them to wake up and not be able to sleep again for the rest of the night. The sleep deprivation that has come from this game is absurd.
Speaking of the fear that someone will sneak up on players during their sleep, many friendships have been damaged as well for this exact reason. Players have been betrayed by numerous friends and have even been set up by their friends just for the fun of it. Not only has this caused tension in friendships, but it has also caused friendship breakups, completely with a fear of betrayal as well. This has led to emotional damage and people having no friends because they believe anyone and everyone is out to get them. It is almost like during senior assassins, it is every player for themselves. A game that ruins friendships and causes emotional damage should not be allowed and considered ethical enough to be played.
One of the many problems that have begun because of friendship breakups is water gun profiling. Yes, friendship breakups have not only caused emotional damage, but they have caused water gun profiling as well. When people stop being friends due to this horrid game, they begin to profile each other based on what type of guns they have. The cheaper your gun is, the more prone you are to being made fun of and seen as a “weaker” player, as the generality of your gun being cheaper makes it essentially not as efficient in a sense.
To say the least, Senior Assassins is an insanely dangerous game that needs to come to an end. It is evil, vulgar, unfair and unsafe. From Post-Traumatic Splash disorder to water shortages and families losing contact with their teenagers, this needs to be put to an end. Protect our teens, world, and families by putting an end to this.
