Black History Month is an incentive to learn more about African-American history, moving beyond stories of prejudice and enslavement to celebrate Black achievement. Our school celebrated by hosting a BHM cardio dance Tuesday, March 1 in the cafeteria.
The cardio dance included many dance styles such as Zumba, pop, Latin, and hip hop. It was organized by Shayla Wiggins, administrator at Athens, and coordinated by Bryon J, the dance instructor at YMCA.
If you would like to find out information about more cardio dances, Bryon J is at Alexander YMCA, Mondays and Wednesdays; and at Southeast Raleigh YMCA, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
