Athens will be hosting a Magnet Theme Showcase Thursday, Dec. 2 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This is an open house that allows students and parents to walk around and get to know the school. There will be in-person tours, demonstrations, presentations, and many more activities. This event is mostly targeted at new students and rising 9th graders, so there will be some specifics covered. These include athletics, Health Science Career Academy (HSCA), meeting the STEM academic coordinator, and others.
The in-person tours will start every 15 minutes in the upper gym lobby. Student ambassadors will lead these tours throughout the school. Parent perspectives will also be there to help and answer any questions parents may have. They will give insight on how they like the school. Student perspectives will also be available throughout the school.
The principal and magnet coordinator will show a slideshow in the auditorium at 5:45. This slideshow will be the general information about Athens, and will not be repeated another time that night.
This is an informative event parents should go to if they have any questions about the school.
“We have a phenomenal school, and it is time for us to brag,” Tonya Hinton, magnet coordinator.
