Athens Drive women’s volleyball suffered a tough loss to Gibbons for the October 6th game. Gibbons is the reigning state championship winners, and are well-known for their advanced volleyball program. But the Jags did not let that intimidate them and still came onto the court cheering with high energy.
Gibbons took the first set with 25-5. The next set looked better with a score of 25-10, Gibbons. The last set ended with a Gibbons win and a score of 12-25.
Although the Jags lost this game, the team had many blocks against Gibbons, with the majority of blocks coming from Elli Shepard #8 and Sammie Blough #12. The team also had a series of hard-earned digs.
“I think we showed more consistency and toughness, which is something we’ve been working on.” said Conner Bayer, Head women’s varsity volleyball coach.
