The team is averaging two total touchdowns and over 50 tackles a game. The team surpasses the national average for receiving yards with 172. The team goal is to return to the state playoffs.
SOCCER: The Athens Drive soccer team returns from their best season in over ten years. They currently have a record of 1-1-2. The team beat Fuquay-Varina 2-1 in a non-conference game and are now ranked 158 in the state. The goal is to make it back to the state playoffs for the third season in a row.
CROSS COUNTRY: The Athens Drive cross country team starts the new season with around 70 total runners. The best placements are freshman, Krister Sjoblad and sophomore, Carly O’Toole, who both placed 12 in the Men’s and Women’s 3000 meter race at WakeMed Soccer Park, Aug. 28. The team’s goal is for the individual runners to reach their personal objectives.
WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Athens Drive women’s tennis team has already matched last year’s total wins after two games. They have recorded 11 total match wins from a possible 15. The team has a 75 win percentage in singles matches alone and a 100 percent win rate in doubles matches.
VOLLEYBALL: The Athens Drive volleyball team has started the season 1-5, with their sole win coming against South Garner. The team surpasses the national average for hitting percentage with .205, total blocks with 39 and serving aces with 62.
