Sean Wallace, a senior at Athens Drive, is the kind of student who makes a lasting impression. From participating in class, helping others, and showing up for school activities, Wallace is known for his dedication, kindness, and involvement. That’s exactly why Morgan Thomas, a special ed teacher here at Athens, chose him for her Senior Spotlight.
“His willingness to help others and do hard work is what truly sets him apart,” said Thomas.

While many students contribute to the Athens community in different ways, Wallace’s leadership stands out. He’s not someone who waits to be asked to do something. He’s the first to volunteer and the first to lend a helping hand.
“He’s always the first to participate in class activities,” said Thomas. “He enjoys helping out students who might not be able to help themselves, and he looks out for those who might need any assistance with anything.”
The willingness to help others is something Wallace says he’s enjoyed the most during his time in Thomas’s class.
“A core memory I have of Athens is helping out during the girls’ lacrosse games as the manager,” said Wallace.
Wallace’s impact on others didn’t go unnoticed. At this year’s Senior Awards Ceremony, Sean received the Principal’s Award.

“When he went to retrieve his award, he told the principal, Dr. Boshoff, ‘Oh, another award.’ I found that to be the greatest thing because he’s had so many accomplishments over the years,” said Thomas.
As a senior, Wallace now looks back on his journey. When asked what advice he’d give to upcoming freshmen, he kept it short but powerful: “Never give up.”
Those three words might seem simple, but they carry a lot of weight. He’s shown what it means to be dedicated, even when no one’s watching. He’s led with kindness, worked hard, and made the most of his time here.
Wallace plans to attend Wake Tech and join the Pathfinders Career Exploration program. Though he’s excited for the future, it’s clear that Athens Drive holds a special place in his heart.
Whether it’s helping others in class, managing sports teams, or preparing for what’s ahead, Sean has shown what it truly means to be driven. His leadership, kindness, and dedication have set the perfect example for others to follow, and his presence at Athens Drive will be deeply missed.
