17-year-old Adam Armour, a former student at Athens Drive High School in the class of 2020, is currently playing for the Under 17 Men’s U.S. Nation’s Soccer Team which consists of a 20-player roster. He attends a flex school which allows him to take classes on his own pace ultimately giving him more time to train for soccer. He is currently committed to Duke University.
Armour played in the Under 17 World Cup in Brazil and has competed against 20 other nations. Armour was excited to start playing as a defender for the national team.
“I was ready to get going because the World Cup is what every kid dreams of playing in and it’s another chance to represent my country and represent my club,” said Armour.
Armour is a player that is ready to work. He believes that he is “not scared of any opponent.” This confidence can help Armour when he’s facing other elite players in soccer matches.
Armour has been given the opportunity to play with the NCFC senior team. This has allowed him to play with players that are older, stronger, and faster than him. Playing with an older team has given him the opportunity to learn from them and he’s learned to follow in his teammates’ footsteps and has develop

With the commitment for Duke, Armour has a coach in John Kerr who will be helping him improve his game. Coach Kerr will be entering his 12th season as head coach for the Blue Devils. He was inducted into the Duke Sports Hall of Fame as a player in 2004. In 1986 he won the Herman trophy and he was captain and led the team to their first NCAA Championship. Coach Kerr was also the first American to enter the English Premier League.
Coach Kerr, has plenty of experience to help Armour succeed in the future. With Kerr on Armours side it will definitely help him to reach the professional level of soccer. Kerr has played in the English Premier League and he has the experience that can lead his Duke Men’s soccer team to success
Armour needs to stay healthy at Duke so that one day he ends up playing for the U.S. National Team to represent Athens, North Carolina, and the United States in the World Cup.
