Art is one of the most common career choices among the youth. However, Joshua Lee, senior at Athens Drive High School, continues to stand out from the crowd, not only with his highly praised artistic skills but also with his personality.
¨He’s very laid back, respectful, and has demonstrated both honesty and integrity this semester in AP Lit, but what stands out (aside from his strong character) is his artistic ability and passion for creativity,¨ said Ashley Turner, Joshua Lee´s 2nd-period teacher. “Josh was simply one of the first students who came to mind when Mrs. Hornick emailed us for nominations.¨
Lee normally explores his creative talents through assigned school projects in class.
¨He’s had the opportunity to work on several creative projects in this class this semester, and his talent blows me away each time,¨ Turner said ¨He’s also very dedicated to honing his craft and seeks out inspiration in the world around him.¨
Lee enjoys art due to it being an easy and accessible way to express himself, but also to captivate others through emotions.
¨I enjoy art probably because it makes me feel emotions, and whenever I want to then let out my emotions. It’s a good way to vent,¨ said Joshua.
Lee additionally has a keen eye for different types of art media aside from regular drawing, sketching, or painting. He also likes music as an art form.
¨I think music is the best for me,¨ said Lee. ¨I want to make music, but I won’t say that I’m great at it.¨
Even though Lee is an artist, he has other plans for the future in mind besides art.
¨I think I might be a pastor, It’s a lot different from art but I think it’s the best way that I can do what I want to,¨ said Lee. ¨I don’t like suburban areas, I’d prefer living straight in the countryside. It’s more like wanting to go there than actually seeing it.¨
Whilst Lee is pursuing his dreams, he made sure to give aspiring artists some helpful and motivational advice.
¨Don’t try to copy, and always try to feel things. If you don’t have passion for art it’s difficult to make up original stuff,¨ Lee said.
