Advertising
Information for Students
We have chosen to display advertisements on the Athens Oracle to help cover the costs that come with producing high quality news, for example, the cost to buy equipment, or to make and print our physical edition. We understand that advertisements can be intrusive and unwanted, and for that reason we have chosen to not place any advertisements in the text of our stories, but only on the sidebars, and to not use any pop-up or animated advertisements, or any other ads that are excessively annoying or that harm your experience on our website.
Information for Advertisers
We are happy that you want to advertise on the Athens Oracle! Our website usually receives thousands of visitors every month during the school year, who could all potentially see your advertisements. We also publish a physical print edition twice a year with the best of our stories, in addition to our online website. If you would like to place an advertisement for your business, organization, or club on our website and/or on our physical newspapers, please get in contact with us by emailing Ms. Hornick at [email protected], or by reaching out to one of our editors-in-chief. We may deny any advertisements that we believe do not align with our editorial decisions, or that do not fit the environment of a local student-run newspaper.
We have online banner ads on our front page and beside many of our stories. Banners should be formatted to 2:1 aspect ratio (we recommend 600×300 pixels or 300×150 pixels) for sidebar advertisements, and a 26:1 aspect ratio (we recommend 1300×50 pixels) for a banner at the bottom of our front page. Banners should be a static .png or .jpeg image, not an animated image or video.
For information about pricing, please get in contact with Ms. Hornick or an editor-in-chief.
