Meet Dayanara Dominguez, a sophomore at Athens Drive High School who’s blooming in business with her own line of artificial bouquet arrangements and irresistible desserts. Dominguez is proving that passion and hustle have no age limit as a 16 year old.
“I have always loved plants, not just flowers, I would always give people plants and make small arrangements. People liked them and started asking my mom if I could make more for them and from there a few months later I started my own business.” said Dominguez.
Having your own business comes with different achievements and moments that make you feel especially proud of what you’ve built.
“My first realization hit me during valentine’s day when I received way more orders than I had anticipated,” said Dominguez.
“My cousin had moved away to Mexico and I had made a bouquet for her. I grew up with her and for her to suddenly move away was something I had to get comfortable with. The bouquets I make are eternal so the memories will always be there with her. When she returned, I made her a welcome back bouquet, and it left us with another beautiful memory.” said Dominguez
What’s the best piece of advice you would give someone who is wanting to start their own creative business?
“Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and never doubt yourself. Be patient, and soon you will see your business flourishing. Every challenge you face is an opportunity to grow stronger. Embrace the journey, and let your passion light the way!” said Dominguez.
“Dayanara created a Chocolate Strawberry Box for my friend’s birthday! Her treats stood out to me because of their presentation. Dayanara takes her time and adds love to each of her orders,” said Valentina Martinez, a customer at Petalos del paraiso.
“I would definitely recommend her arrangements and treats to others! Dayanara’s service is very neat and well done, and not only that but she is super sweet to her clients,” said Barcenas Mendez, a customer at Petalos del paraiso.
“On my eternal roses I try different types of roses. It can get more complicated but I do experiment with lights and other small details like butterflies. There was this one bouquet. It was pink and I had added glitter, lights, and banner signs,” said Dominguez.
Dayanara shares what keeps her motivated and how she balances her life while running a business.
“Trying to stay consistent and not making excuses for myself, my biggest aspiration being my mom, she’s always encouraged me to do better for myself. A verse that encourages me is Proverbs 16:3: “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” This verse highlights the Importance of trusting God’s guidance and seeking his blessings in your business efforts.” said Dominguez.
“I would definitely recommend her to others as she is an easy person to order from and even offers delivery to customers!” said Martinez.
“The best thing about supporting small businesses like her is you get to support someone’s hobby, they are able to continue doing what they love and give out to the community I love supporting her small business and seeing the smile it brings out of her to do something she loves,” said Martinez.
