Kevin Hart, Hannibal Buress, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart are some of the celebrities who participated in the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber.
The Bieber Roast was a public bashing of teen-heartthrob, Justin Bieber, who has made a lot of questionable decisions over the past few years. Other roasters present included Natasha Leggero, Shaquille O’Neal, Jeff Ross, Chris D’Elia and Pete Davidson. Kevin Hart served as a roast master, appointed by the singer himself, who scheduled the event to take place after his 21st birthday.
Bieber endured endless jabs at his expense during his Comedy Central roast that aired March 30 – and the pop star hinted that he deserved them all.
Bieber raised eyebrows in recent years for questionable actions that included a DUI arrest and a police investigation into accusations that he threw eggs at a neighbor’s home and caused severe damage – which were all made fun of during the Roast.
Apart from making fun of the teen idol, the roasters chose to make fun of each other in the process. Some of the jokes included, “A lot of people are upset that Justin hasn’t won a Grammy. There is Martha Stewart. She can be your Grammy,” said Jeff Ross, stand up comedian.
Other jokes included, “Bieber has ten million fans – most are in middle school or standing at least 500 feet away from one,” said Kevin Hart, actor.
Towards the end of the roast, Bieber also made fun of his roasters. As the jokes wound down, Bieber stood up onstage and issued what appeared to be a heartfelt apology for his past behavior.
“There was really no preparing me for this life,” said Bieber, according to People Weekly. “I was thrown into this at 12 years old and didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. There have been moments that I’m really proud of and moments that I’m pretty disappointed in myself for.”
Bieber further explained that this was a new start in his life and that he had learned from his past mistakes.
“Justin was in a really bad place last year,” said Ashley Morales, freshman. “He hung out with the wrong kind of people and that really affected his behavior.”
Over the course of the past few years, Bieber has been caught driving with an expired license, illicitly spraying walls with graffiti art and hosting loud parties that have disturbed his neighbors, who claim that he transformed from “the boy next door” to “the bad boy.”
“A friend close to me once said, ‘It’s how you rise from a fall that really defines you as a man.’ I’m excited for that challenge,” explained Bieber.
Scoring nearly six million views, the Bieber Roast sparked immense interest and insight into the minds of the viewers as to how Bieber will overcome his past mistakes and turn over a new leaf.
