Taura Simmons selected Duncan Ebert for Humans of ADHS this year by picking one of her students that she felt had the most motivation and creativity to help the school recognize him and give him the shout-out he deserves. 

Duncan is a creative, interesting, diligent, and talented person who also has a variety of hobbies and talents. He works very hard in school, stays motivated no matter the circumstance, and constantly pushes himself to achieve his goals. Bringing a different perspective to the classroom is a skill that not many students have and Duncan makes it look easy. He puts a fun twist on the way he learns and can even help other people look at it this way too.

¨I nominated Duncan for Humans of ADHS because he is just a generally cool and interesting human being. He is talented and has a variety of interests,¨  said Taura Simmons, Literacy Coach at ADHS.

Having many interests is a great way to get to know others and fit in well with any group of people. Being able to connect with others through each other’s similar hobbies and talents is something that not many people can do. Eberts’s hobbies consist of free driving, 3D printing, and long-distance bike riding. These hobbies are all part of what makes him such an interesting person. 

¨My hobbies are free diving, and long-distance bike riding and I do not have any specific talents,¨ said Ebert.

His hard work and dedication in and outside of school are all a part of the reason he was nominated. Simmons has taken notice of how hard he has been working to be the best he can be and improve his skills.

He doesn’t just work hard in school though; 3D printing requires a lot of focus and dedication that could not be done by people with small amounts of patience. Bike riding also utilizes your entire body to make sharp turns, drops, and bumps without crashing or slowing down. Most people do not have hobbies that are as hard to master as his and it wouldn’t be fair If his talent wasn’t recognized.

¨I mostly work hard in and out of class.¨ said Ebert.

Dedication, skill, and talent are all things that meet the requirements for this nomination and it can often be found difficult to have all three. Ebert has all of these characteristics and more and will continue to grow and develop more.

¨He is conscientious and diligent, and I think his story would be an interesting one to share with the school,¨ said Simmons.
