Tired of seeing cats, witches, and vampires every year? Want to get out there and try something different, maybe experiment with something new? Here are just a few ideas to help spark this creativity:
- A background character of a popular movie/ tv show. A background character could be the main character’s best friend, relative or even teacher. A background character is anyone who is not the main character.
- A spin-off of a popular character. You could be a dinosaur, but a cute dinosaur. Adding makeup or extras to the costume is being creative.
- Swapping lives with your best friend or significant other. Swap your clothes and makeup with a friend, and live in their shoes for the night!
- Be an engineer, create an interactive costume! You could be a trash can and pop up from the lid every time you scream trick or treat.
- Go as your favorite childhood character. You could dress up as Mickey Mouse, Dora or even Yo Gabba Gabba.
- Recreate a 90’s or 80’s character. Dressing up to match past trends may spark interest in most. Make enjoyable moments such as taking pictures, and making “old” memories.
- Making a DIY costume from home is definitely something different. People often tend to order costumes online or buy them in person. Knowing that you made it yourself is also a huge accomplishment.
There are so many other costumes that could be made up, it just takes digging deep into your inner child’s creative canal. Overall the making of Halloween costumes is to have fun and have a chance to be something you are not, why not make yourself stand out?
