Christmas songs have been theorized to have existed ever since 4th century Rome. During the festive season, you’ll most likely hear various Christmas songs on the radio, in television series, in cartoons, or even in your playlists. Although most Christmas songs have a nice, catchy, and cozy jingle and beat, some people prefer a particular Christmas song or a certain type over the other.
Personally, I prefer older Christmas songs, mostly because they are not only the backbone of Christmas songs, but also because they automatically give off cozy holiday vibes.
Some examples of old Christmas songs that I like are Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Baby It’s Cold Outside and Frosty The Snowman. I love these songs because they evoke the warm feeling of the holiday season. Listening to slow paced Christmas songs is much more easier to sleep to than other Christmas songs that are fast-paced and have a catchy beat. They also offer a sense of comfort, since these songs, specifically Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, come from very old cartoons that I loved to watch when I was younger.
Even though I do prefer slow-paced Christmas songs, fast-paced songs aren’t that bad either. I like to think of fast-paced Christmas songs as songs that make you feel excited. It also serves as music to wake up in the morning feeling hyped for what your family has planned for you under the big tree.
Although Christmas songs are comforting and nice to listen to, some people think that some songs are irritating to hear, especially when it’s so close to Christmas. Many say that Christmas songs are starting to become repetitive, as it’s all the same tune and the recycling of lyrics. Though, some people have said that Christmas songs are starting to decline in terms of quality, with the song lacking legitimate meaning or purpose besides just being festive.
But others have a different reason, most of the time the same Christmas songs will play on the radio every year, lacking any variety or originality. Some examples of popular Christmas songs that are repeatedly played every year are: All I Want For Christmas Is You, Santa Baby, Jingle Bell Rock and Last Christmas. These high-pitched songs can be extremely annoying to people since they are always in such a joyful mood, especially if you’re not feeling too happy yourself.
It’s up to you to figure out what songs fit you the most this Christmas, as everybody has a different taste for what they like. As always, Merry Christmas!
