How to Live A Healthy Lifestyle

Here in the United States, obesity levels are one of the highest in the world. In the past 30 years adolescent obesity has increased. In this nation, 12.7 million teens are obese. In America people strive to fix this issue of the society becoming obese. Researchers have tried to test new possible ways to make a healthy lifestyle easier and create new products not thinking that simple steps can help students and other people.

“You can still have sweets and fast food every once and awhile but make sure you have a balanced diet and are paying attention to what you eat,” said Jessica Beltrani, senior.

Most people rush into the change not mentally prepared for the hardships that will come. It is beneficial to plan out short term goals rather than long term goals. Dailyburn suggests that people take it slow and do not rush into working out and eating right. Planning short term goals will help achieve things faster because it helps people stay more motivated because they can achieve them faster than a long term goal.

“I would be really happy if we would make good lunches; if you look at other countries like Japan, they produce healthy lunches,” said Kimberly Clay, Science teacher.

One way to start out eating healthy is prepping meals rather than buying lunch. Prepping meals can save time and money. Going to the store can be a hassle especially if the meals are not planned out. When there are no arrangements  people are most likely to get groceries for convenience. Researchers have proven that making plans will help improve one’s behavior psychologically.

The best way to remove negative thoughts for motivation is realizing what is good, rather then what is bad. Focusing on aspects that are good will make the body happy and will help  produce dopamine and endorphins. Trainer Jonny Straws who is an online fitness trainer suggests taking some selfies to boost self-esteem. Trainers also want people to know to expect failure and face challenges but to get back up.

Another way to live a healthy lifestyle is to get enough sleep. Not getting enough sleep can connect to being overweight. Doctors have found that the less you sleep the more you weigh.  Not having enough sleep also cause ghrelin levels to rise. Those levels cause the body to have more of an appetite.

“People now are not as active as kids were when I was growing up,” said Clay.

Some teens have become lazy because of the distractions they have in their life like television and phones. This negligence is another very big factor in teens becoming overweight. Instead of sitting on couches teens should get up and go out. One walk can change a life even if it is just for 30 minutes. It will help teens get motivated and keep the weight off.

“I also try not to eat fast food and being vegetarian helps with that since fast food places have little to no vegetarian options,” said Beltrani.

Eating right is one of the most basic ways to lose weight. It is the first thing everyone hears from their doctors. It is a fact that losing weight requires 80 percent diet and 20 percent exercise. Good ways to start out eating right is removing things that include high fructose syrup. High fructose corn syrup comes in mostly all things that have been packaged for easy eating. Doctors think that this corn syrup is one of the many reasons people might be gaining weight.

“There is way more produced food, like you can buy frozen stuff because it is easier, so you are stuck on convenience plans,” said Clay.
