10 Point Grading scale

10 Point Grading Scale

It has been proven by the state board and teachers of Wake County that the ten-point grading scale will help 6-12 graders who are struggling through middle and high school. The ten- point grading scale is for students in Wake County to help get their grades to rise, and to also make it easier for the teachers to grade work. Because of the disagreements between the state board and the school districts, it took longer for them to finally come up with an answer. The ten point grading scale was approved Oct.14, 2014.

“I think it will make my grades get better, because the way my grades are looking now, opening up the grade range will help me,” said Ta’Naya Brown-Morris, freshman.

The grading scale is changing because students in the range of sixth through twelfth grades are failing their classes, but also to level the playing field in college applications.

The ten point grading scale is not just to help students with their grades, but also to help students in other states. Teachers will be able to decide and evaluate all students under the new scale to make grading more manageable for them, helping them with their grades as well.

“I think this is a good change because people including myself that are complaining about their grades, it will help us,” said Brown-Morris.

This is a change for students and teachers in Wake County because the teachers will have to change their grading policies and students will have a different scale to follow. The new grading scale mainly applies to middle and high school students because even though elementary schools are still advised to use the grading scale by their school district the proposals do recommend that all grades use the grades of the ten  point grading scale.

“The new grading scale will help me because instead of my grades being in a lower range it will have a more variety of ways that it can go,”said Brown-Morris.

The reason why the grading scale is changing is to simplify the system, and so that students can have a more spreaded out grading scale for their grades to be better. Although the grading scale has change, its just a new way to basically grade work and also a new way to to get your grades in shape.
